DGKV is pleased to share that Mr. Omourtag Petkov, one of the law firm’s key lawyers in the M&A, international contracts, regulatory and restructuring practice groups, has been unanimously re-elected to the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce at its General Assembly held on May 19, 2022. The public hearing of the nominees was on April 18th, 2022.

Omourtag was part of AmCham's delegation for the official opening of the chamber’s office in Washington D.C., which took place on May 10th, 2022 with an exquisite reception at the Bulgarian Embassy to the United States. The office will serve as a focal point of contact for American businesses aiming at expanding their operations in Bulgaria as well as for Bulgarian companies that are looking to enter the American market.

AmCham’s main goal is to strengthen the traditionally good commercial and economic relations between the United States and Bulgaria and to promote further cooperation between the two countries. An essential part of the mission of AmCham is to improve the business environment, investment climate, and living standards in Bulgaria by advocacy and active engagement with all stakeholders – government, business, NGO-s, and media.

DGKV was one of the founding members of AmCham and has been providing pro bono legal services to the organization since its inception more than 26 years ago. In the past year as member of AmCham’s Board, Omourtag - admitted to practice in New York and Bulgaria - initiated the establishment of the chamber’s new Committee on Rule of Law and Legislative Reforms, which already works on various rule of law issues and several legislative projects. We are happy that Omourtag will continue bringing to AmCham his experience as lawyer and his leadership and organizational skills.
