Patricia Cherkezova

Patricia Cherkezova is an Associate at DGKV and a member of the firm’s Employment & Mobility and Intellectual Property practices. She specializes in intellectual property law, employment and social securities law, immigration law, and commercial contracts. Patricia advises key domestic and international clients of the firm on employment matters related to their operations in Bulgaria, including drafting labor agreements and other employment documents, collective-dismissal and settlement-agreement documentation, salary, pension, and share-options papers, management contracts, and other documentation settling the work relations of executives, including confidentiality and non-compete agreements. She also advises clients on health and safety at work, remote work (telework), secondments, employment intermediaries, and other similar matters Patricia is also a valuable member of DGKV’s IP practice, where she advises clients on cases involving IP infringements and on different aspects of trans-border transfers of IP rights.  

Recent representative projects include:

  • Advising Accenture (UK) Limited on implementing home office, remote work, and a new secondment regime.
  • Representing Avia International in opposition proceedings against a competitor’s application to register the same trademark in Bulgaria.
  • Assisting British American Tobacco with an IP-due-diligence exercise (including a transfer of licenses) and providing strategic advice on its acquisition of Bulgartabac Holding (the largest Bulgarian tobacco producer).
  • Representing Meta (Facebook Inc.) in its oppositions to similar trademarks before the Bulgarian Patent Office, drafting and delivery of warning letters to and negotiating settlement agreements with owners of conflicting unregistered signs, making trademark applications and registrations, assisting with cancellation actions.
