Patricia Cherkezova is an Associate at DGKV, member of the Employment & Mobility and Intellectual Property Practices. She specializes in intellectual property law, employment and social securities law, immigration law, and commercial contracts. Patricia advises domestic and international key clients of the law firm of various industries on employment matters related to their operations in Bulgaria, including drafting of labor agreements and other employment documents, collective dismissal and settlement agreement documentation, salary, pension and share options papers, management contracts and other documentation settling the work relations of executives, confidentiality and non-compete agreements. She also provides legal counselling on health and safety at work, distant work (telework), secondment, employment intermediaries, etc. Patricia is also a valuable member of DGKV’s IP practice group, where she advises on a number of cases involving IP infringements and consults on different aspects of trans-border transfers of IP rights.
Involvement in recent representative projects:
- Advised Accenture (UK) Limited on implementing home office, distant work and the new regime of secondment of workers.
- Advised Avia International in opposition proceedings against a competitor’s application for registration of the same trademark in Bulgaria.
- Advised British American Tobacco on IP due diligence (including transfer of licenses) and strategic advice with regard to its acquisition of Bulgartabac Holding (the biggest Bulgarian tobacco producer).
- Advised Meta (Facebook Inc.) in oppositions against similar trademarks before the Bulgarian Patent Office, drafting and delivery of warning letters and negotiation of settlement agreements with owners of conflicting unregistered signs, trademark applications and trademark registrations, cancellation actions.
