The European Union will call a tender to pick a contractor for an up to EUR 1.3 million project to improve waste management in three Bulgarian regions in line with the bloc's requirements, the EU said on March 3, 2006.
The project, financed by the EU pre-accession fund PHARE, includes setting up of regional waste management boards in the three selected pilot regions, encouragement of inter-municipal cooperation and providing of training for local authorities, according to a tender notice in the Tenders Electronic Daily, a supplement to EU's Official Journal. Interested companies or consortia must apply for the tender by April 10. The EU plans to launch the tender in May and the start of the contract is scheduled for August.
