Volksbanken after DZI Bank

Austrian Volksbanken-AG is interested in buying Bulgarian DZI Bank, reports APA news agency quoting leading Wirtschaftsblatt, and adds that Volksbanken's branch for Central and Eastern Europe, Volksbank International, is currently researching the Bulgarian market. The spokesman for the bank commented they were still in the first stage of research and nothing definite could be specified yet.

APA points out that since DZI has been announced for sale the Hungarian OTP and the Belgian KBC have been also interested in it. The agency also reports the bank's seller is Vessela Kyuleva, widow of banker Emil Kyulev, assassinated last year in Sofia. As the Standart has already published the Greek Alfa Bank and two Italian financial institutions have been eying DZI Bank as well.
