Bulgarian parliament adopts changes to energy law.
Bulgarian parliament adopted Jul 3, amendments to the energy law that allow consumers to choose their provider for electricity, the energy ministry announced. The new act also makes possible choosing an electricity provider based on best price offered and thus introduces competitive drivers on the market. Following the adopted changes, operation of gas pipelines and electricity networks will be separate from the business of providing gas or generating power. All amendments are in compliance with the Third Energy Package. Additionally, the amendments enable making quarterly revisions to renewable power tariffs, which are currently updated once a year.
