The city expects substantial receipts from the privatisation deals western candidates will be preferred as buyers of Sofia's municipal companies. The buyers should have track record in business and expertise in the respective sector. This will ensure that the purchased company will prosper in future.

The analyses and evaluations of the companies that will be offered for privatisation will be ready within three months. The documents will be then submitted to the municipal council, which will decide on the sales method for each of them. Some of the companies earmarked for privatisation own real estate, such as Sofiyski Imoti. Others have stakes in various companies. It has not been decided yet whether the municipal firms will be offered together with all their properties and equity participations. Sofia's Water Supply and Sewerage Company is attractive for its equipment. Sofiyski Imoti and Sportna Sofia own sports facilities and establishments, which would be better operated by private owners.
