Bulgarian River Shipping Company (BRSC) announced that it would acquire six new non-propelled vessels with total capacity of 12,000 tons by end-2008. The deals are in line with the previously announced investment plans of the company. The vessels will be built by Korabno Mashinostroene Varna. Financial details about the deals are not disclosed. BRS is owned by Chimimport (75%). It is the main Danube river water transportation company in the country with 90% of the company’s activities focused on transporting goods from Russia and Ukraine . The company’s net profit for 2007 increased with 20% y/y to BGN 3mn (EUR 1.5mn).
