EBRD may provide a EUR 18mn loan to the municipal company running the electric public transport in the capital city of Sofia , according to information posted on EBRD’s website. The financing will be used for the purchase of new trolleybuses and rehabilitation of traction power substations. The total project is estimated at EUR 21.6mn. Sofia Electric Transport Company (SETC) is considered the main transport operator for the city centre. It transported 198mn passengers last year. SETC operates 298 trams over 17 lines with total length of 159 kilometres and 106 trolleybuses on 93 kilometres distributed over 9 lines.
