Parliament passed in second and final reading the proposal of the government for amendments in the commercial law to reduce the initial capital for registering a limited liability company from BGN 5,000 (EUR 2,556) at present to BGN 2. The decision aims to improve the legislation for starting business and thus enhance the economic activity and create new jobs. According to the latest Doing Business report of the World Bank, Bulgaria has one of the highest initial capital requirements for registering LLC as it ranks 36 th out of 181 countries. About 100 countries require zero capital for LLC registering. The measure is part of the cabinet’s package to contain the adverse effects of the economic downturn in a quick and sustainable manner to be implemented by April 27.
