A total of 66 companies from eight countries ( Bulgaria , Austria , Azerbaijan , Croatia , Germany , Greece , Macedonia , and Turkey ) have bought tender documents to take part in the competition for the construction of the 31.8-kilometre segment between Stara Zagora and Nova Zagora of the Trakia Motorway. The deadline for buying the documents expired on December 31. The offers should be filed by January 11. The proposals will be opened on January 12 and the price offers will be opened later only for those candidates, who meet the technical and financial requirements. The winner should be selected by end-April and field works are to start on May 3. The indicative amount is estimated at EUR 96mn and is provided by the EU cohesion fund under the country’s transport operational programme. Trakia Motorway connects the capital city Sofia with the southern Black Sea city of Burgas . A total of three segments between Stara Zagora and Karnobat with total length of 115 km remain to be built. The investments are expected at EUR 375mn.
