DGKV acted as legal counsel to OTP Bank Plc. and DSK Bank AD in extending an additional EUR 30,000,000 financing for AES Geo Energy OOD. AES Geo Energy operates the 156 MW wind farm “Sveti Nikola”, located in the Municipality of Kavarna, in northeast Bulgaria. AES Geo Energy is part of the AES Corporation, a leading multinational player in the energy industry. 

DGKV was mandated as lead counsel to the finance parties and had the overall responsibility for the legal structuring, execution and closing of the financing transaction. The project involved a cross-jurisdictional team of legal advisors, where DGKV worked alongside the team of Kennedy Van der Laan, acting as Dutch counsel.

The team was led by partner Georgi Tzvetkov and senior associate Deyan Bogdanov and included associate Irina Mihaylova.

The transaction is a continuation of the successful partnership between OTP Group and subsidiaries of AES Corporation, and in particular, to the 2022 EUR 150,000,000 financing, directed towards investments in renewable energy sources of AES Corporation worldwide, on which DGKV also had the privilege to advise the finance parties.
