Ralitsa Gougleva is a Counsel Head of Data Protection Practice at DGKV with extensive and diverse experience in M&A, joint ventures and private equity, corporate governance, project finance, commercial contracts and data protection. She joined DGKV as an associate in 2005. Ralitsa has been a team leader and sole leader in charge of DGKV teams advising investors on some of the largest and highest-profile M&A deals on the Bulgarian market. Ralitsa has helped many clients with the restructuring of their business operations and investments in Bulgarian companies, on corporate governance and liquidation matters, and on commercial contracts. She also has more than ten years of experience in data-protection and privacy matters, and has helped both Bulgarian and international clients conduct their business in Bulgaria in compliance with the GDPR and local data-protection regulations.
Recent representative projects include:
- Advising Sanmina Corporation on the acquisition of Osram EOOD, a Bulgarian lights and lighting devices manufacturer, from Germany’s Osram.
- Advising QuickBase, Inc., which is backed by Vista Equity Partners, on Bulgarian legal aspects of its acquisition of CloudPipes Group Ltd.
- Advising a Bulgarian client that is part of a US corporate group on reporting an accidental data breach to the Bulgarian data protection authority (and helping ensure that, during the follow-up audit by the authority, the client incurred no penalty or liability), advising it on applicable safeguards for the transfer of personal data to the USA after the Schrem II case, and helping it update its policies and measures in compliance with the GDPR.
- Advising Kohler Co, USA, on Bulgarian legal aspects of its acquisition (including the acquisition of its Bulgarian subsidiary) by merger of Curtis Instruments Inc. and its subsidiaries.
