The state antitrust commission has approved the acquisition of the local ceramics producer Han Asparuh by the US equity house Advent International. Han Asparuh is the country's largest wall and floor tile producer and operates three factories located in Isperih, Shumen , and Elin Pelin. The company is also planning to construct a plant in Romania . The total production capacity of the three units, known also as KAI Group, stands at more than 15mn tiles per year. The antitrust watchdog comments that the large number of both local producers and importers guarantees the normal functioning of the market. Advent International also controls Herlitz Bulgaria , Vinolit, Roma Plastic, and Sophis Technology. Advent International also participated in the privatisation of 65% of the landline telecom BTC, which was resold to AIG Capital Partners several months ago.
