The US company American Standard announced plans to sell out its bath and kitchen business, including the two plants in the northern Bulgarian town Sevlievo, and to concentrate operations on its core business of air conditioning systems. Ideal Standard Bulgaria, the local subsidiary of American Standard, is one of the country’s major exporters. It operates two big production units in Sevlievo -- Ideal Standard and Vidima. The former is specialised in production of ceramic goods while the latter is producing various bathroom and kitchen accessories made from metal and plastic materials. American Standard has invested around USD 125mn in the country since its entry 14 years ago. Ideal Standard Bulgaria is the largest production unit of American Standard in Europe and employs around 1,500 persons. The two local plants supply more than 180 different products to 15 markets in Europe .
