Antitrust body approves Oriahovo port concession

The state antitrust commission has approved the concession contract for the port in the Danube town of Oriahovo to the local firm Slanchev Dar. The 25-year contract was signed in July. Slanchev Dar, which is not operational on that market at present, plans to modernise the terminal, to raise the quality of the services and to raise the turnover. The market share of the Oriahovo terminal, which is connected to the roads infrastructure in the country only, is estimated at 1.3% for cargos and 1.14% for passengers. The antitrust regulator concludes that the take-over will not affect the competition.
