The management of the country's 11 th largest DZI Bank announced that three large foreign banks have submitted offers for taking over 50.09% of the local lender. The bidding deadline for the private-owned DZI Bank expires tomorrow. The names of the first three bidders are not unveiled yet but acquisition interest has been signalled by Austria 's Volksbank , Belgium 's KBC, the Greek banks Alpha and Eurobank, and Hungary 's OTP. Price estimates for the controlling stake are put in the tune of EUR 150mn. The local stock exchange ceased the trade with DZI for 3 days counted as of yesterday due to the ongoing bidding for the bank. DZI needs about 30 days to evaluate the offers that could impose a longer suspension of the stock trade. The Bank reports total assets of BGN 1.1bn (EUR 563mn) as of the end of June and a small net profit of BGN 0.8mn in H1. The major stake of 50.09% in the bank is controlled by the successors of Emil Kiulev through the country's largest insurer DZI, where the local entity Contract Sofia holds a 70% stake. Kiulev was killed in October last year and his family inherited the full stake in Contract Sofia with indirect majority stakes in DZI and DZI Bank.
