BTC lends EUR 128mn to wireless arm vivatel

The country’s main landline telecom BTC is planning to provide BGN 240mn (EUR 127.8mn) financing to its subsidiary BTC Mobile, the company announced. The decision will be taken on the general meeting of BTC shareholders, which is expected in June. The funds will be used for capital hike of BTC Mobile, which is the country's third GSM operator, traded as vivatel. Vivatel serviced more than 600,000 customers in terms of active SIM cards at the end of last year, accounting for a market share of 7.5%. The mobile operator plans to expand its market share by 13% by the end of this year offering cheaper rates for calls to and from the landline grid of its parent company BTC.
