Economy minister Petar Mutafchiev announced that the cabinet may call a concession tender for the small airport located in the northern city of Gorna Oriahovitsa in four months. This action is expected to boost both cargo and passenger flights. At present, a procedure for granting a 35-year concession of the airport in the Danube city of Ruse is underway. The airports in Gorna Oriahovitsa and Ruse are small and have almost no passenger traffic at present but could be used by cargo and low-budget air carriers interested to enter the local aviation market.
