The country’s largest holding Chimimport has signed a deal for acquisition of local airport service firm Molet, according to a pres release issued by the antitrust commission. The deal will give Chimimport indirect control over 40% of the shares in the sea airports concessionaire Fraport Twin Star Airport Management. The main package of 60% remains in control of Germany ’s Fraport. Molet is the sole owner of the local BM Star, which is the official holder of the 40% stake in Fraport Twin Star Airport Management. The latter took over the management of the Black Sea airports in Varna and Burgas in November 2006 under a 35-year concession contract. It plans to invest EUR 403mn for modernisation and expansion of the airports, including EUR 215mn for the airport in Burgas and EUR 188mn for the airport in Varna .
The antitrust watchdog has approved the takeover of Molet by Chimimport stating that the two parties operate on different markets and the deal is not expected to lead to market dominance.
