Djingov, Gouginski, Kyutchukov & Velichkov has advised Acibadem on the combined acquisition of 100% of Bulgaria's biggest private hospital - Tokuda Hospital and 76% of City Hospitals and Clinics. The total deal value is estimated at around EUR 125 million. Upon completion of the deal, the combined group of Tokuda Hospital and City Hospitals and Clinics will become the biggest private healthcare provider in Bulgaria with four hospitals and four medical clinics. The transaction represent the biggest deal in the healthcare business in the region.
Acibadem is a Turkish private healthcare provider, a part of the global healthcare group IHH Healthcare Berhad. IHH currently operates nearly 10,000 beds across 49 hospitals in 10 countries.
Tokuda group is the largest private hospital operator in Bulgaria, opened in 2006 as the first private hospital owned by a foreign investor in Bulgaria with 100% Japanese investment.
City Clinic group is a fast expanding private healthcare provider, which operates three hospitals and three outpatient centres in Sofia, Varna and Burgas. DGKV acted both for Acibadem (team led by partner Georgi Tzvetkov) and City Clinic (team led by partner Zdravka Ugrinova).
