Eurobridge is reportedly preparing a feasibility study for construction of a EUR 35mn tunnel linking Bulgaria and Romania under the Danube River in the region of Silistra/Calarasi. Such plans have been circulated before but not mentioned during the meeting of the line ministers of the two countries last week. However, the company claims that the project has political backing from the national governments. Eurobridge is registered in Bulgaria by Portuguese investors. It has signed a preliminary contract with the German tunnel construction and equipment company Herrenknecht to build the tunnel.
