The local subsidiary of the Austrian energy company EVN, operating the two power distribution units in south-eastern Bulgaria, is planning to invest BGN 140mn (EUR 71.6mn) this year, some 70% of which will be spent on improving the network in the southern regions of Plovdiv and Stara Zagora. EVN Power Distribution Bulgaria invested the same amount last year but focused on security of electricity supplies. By the end of the year, the company will modernise part of the cable network in order to avoid electricity interruptions. EVN spent BGN 85mn for repair of 1,700 kilometres of cables in 2006 and 2007.
