Austria's energy utility EVN has unveiled several areas of interest for possible acquisitions or green-field investments in Bulgaria . The company holds majority stakes in the two electricity distribution groups in the south-eastern region of Bulgaria and will consider expansion to natural gas distribution, waste treatment, water supply, power generation, and steam heat production and distribution. EVN also participates in the ongoing privatisation tenders for the district heating companies in the country's second and fifth largest cities of Plovdiv and Ruse . The company has recently earmarked a budget of EUR 100mn for investments in Bulgaria and Macedonia . The figures however exclude possible commitments to the heating plants in Plovdiv and Ruse .
