The Spanish company FCC reports at its website that it has won the competition for construction of related infrastructure for the Danube Bridge II. The project is valued at EUR 75.1mn and includes construction of railway and road lines, trade area, three new buildings, renovation of existing passenger railway station, lighting, communication and signalling systems. The transport ministry has not confirmed the information yet. More than 30 candidates were interested in the project. This is the second part of the project for construction of the second bridge across the Danube River on the 470km river border between Bulgaria and Romania , connecting the Bulgarian city of Vidin and Romania ’s Calafat. The first part for building the bridge is assigned also to FCC, which has won the state order with a price offer of EUR 100mn. The total cost for building the bridge and related infrastructure is provisionally estimated at EUR 236mn. Construction works started in May and are expected to take 38 months.
