Finance minister Plamen Oresharski proposed to the line commission in the parliament to draft legal mechanisms for transferring the management and/or the ownership of the sports facilities to private investors. He recommended private-public partnerships or full transfers to the private sector through long-term concessions or property sales. The stance of Oresharski is supported by the state sports agency and sports federations. The finance minister pointed out that the state have not been successful in the maintenance and the management of those properties and should bravely rely on the private sector. His proposal refers to around 2,000 properties throughout the country. The state is supposed to retain control only in a dozen of them, which will be considered of high national importance.
