Italy’s military and astronautics group Finmeccanica plans to fund projects related to modernisation of the Bulgarian army worth EUR 1.5bn, Dnevnik Daily reads. The latter include supply of air jet fighters and pilotless airplanes (above EUR 1bn), helicopters repair (EUR 60mn), construction of communication system of the army (EUR 220-300mn), and tanks modernisation. The consortium plans to build regional centre for helicopters and land equipment repair and for the production of pilotless airplanes in the country. Finmeccanica has contracted already the supply of five transport planes worth some EUR 91mn, the first of which is expected in September. Finnmeccanica was engaged in the creation of the communication system of one unit of the army through its subsidiary Selex Cummunications.
