Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway sign EUR 41.5mn grant

The government signed yesterday agreements with Iceland , Lichtenstein and Norway for utilisation of a EUR 21.5mn grant under the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area. The fund is aimed at curbing social and economic inequalities and improving institutional capacities in areas such as environment protection, sustainable development, preservation of cultural inheritance, human resources development, local governments, and healthcare. Bulgaria has signed another agreement with Norway and would receive additionally EUR 20mn for implementation of different projects. The first projects under the EEA financial mechanism are expected to start next month while those under the bilateral agreement with Norway will start in December.
