Partner Vessela Stancheva-Mincheva made a valuable contribution to a Study on the Law Applicable to Companies1, prepared for the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission. The report suggests a possible harmonisation of conflict-of-laws rules in the area of company law at the EU level, in response to the significant legal variation and uncertainty identified in the Member States’ regimes. Vessela’s extensive practical knowledge of the Bulgarian economy, legal and regulatory framework and experience advising major undertakings’ business in Bulgaria helped her to accurately and objectively assess the Bulgarian legal perspective of cross-border corporate mobility in Europe.
Vessela Stancheva-Mincheva is one of the most respected legal experts in her field and has extensive experience in many high-profile transactions and led the legal teams that advised on some of the first bank mergers and privatizations in Bulgaria, including the sale of DSK Bank (the 2nd largest Bulgarian bank). As a partner at DGKV, Vessela has served as a member of the Securities and Stock Exchange Commission, where she participated in the drafting team and also served as a member of the private group of the New Private International Law Code. She’s a member of the Board of Governors of the European Institute and of the Bulgarian Association of International Law. Vessela is a Doctor of law and has lectured in the best Bulgarian universities. Author of numerous articles on Securities Law and Private International Law, published in Bulgarian and foreign legal journals.
