EBRD will lend a total of EUR 35mn to the local subsidiaries of the Greek Piraeus Group under a partnership programme for support of small and medium-size enterprises, energy efficiency and renewable energy investments, as well as infrastructure projects in small and medium-size municipalities. The programme will assist EUsponsored initiatives in the country. Piraeus Bank Bulgaria, the banking subsidiary of Piraeus Group in Bulgaria, will receive EUR 15mn under the EU/EBRD SME Finance Facility for small and mediumsize businesses in Bulgaria, EUR 5mn under the EU/EBRD Small and Medium Municipalities Finance Facility to finance long-term infrastructure projects, and EUR 5mn under the Bulgarian Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Framework for energy efficiency and small renewable energy projects. Piraeus Leasing will receive EUR 10mn under the joint EU/EBRD programme for leasing finance for SMEs. Both EBRD loans to Piraeus Bank and Piraeus Leasing will be complemented by grant support from the European Commission, including technical assistance services. A grant of 20% of the loan amount will be payable to companies undertaking small renewable energy projects. Grant support for the project is provided by the EC supported Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund.
