Power plant Maritsa East II calls EUR 75mn tender for installation of filters

 The coal-fired power plant Maritsa East II has called a tender for construction of sulphur purification installations for power generation units 5 and 6. The project is valued at EUR 75mn. EBRD lending and ISPA grants account for 45% and 48% of the financing, respectively. The other part comes from own resources of the power plant. Three companies have expressed interest and have purchased documents so far – the Italian unit of the French company Alstom Power, the Austrian Energy and Environment and the Polish RAFACO. Hitachi & Hitachi Power Europe is also expected to join the competition. The final winner should be selected by the end of the year. Finland’s company AF ENPRIMA will consult the project. The plant has production capacity of 1,450 MW structured into 8 power generation units.
