The coal-fired power plant Maritsa East II has called a tender for construction of sulphur purification installations for power generation units 5 and 6. The project is valued at EUR 75mn. EBRD lending and ISPA grants account for 45% and 48% of the financing, respectively. The other part comes from own resources of the power plant. Three companies have expressed interest and have purchased documents so far – the Italian unit of the French company Alstom Power, the Austrian Energy and Environment and the Polish RAFACO. Hitachi & Hitachi Power Europe is also expected to join the competition. The final winner should be selected by the end of the year. Finland’s company AF ENPRIMA will consult the project.
