The local subsidiary of Romania’s Rompetrol is planning to invest about EUR 17mn for opening of 35 new petrol stations in the country by the end of the year. The company has 50 stations in the country at present, 35 of them serviced by franchise contractors. The company’s medium-term goal is to expand its local network to 170 fuel stations under an investment programme estimated at about EUR 100mn. Rompetrol is the biggest Romanian investor in the country. It entered the market four years ago and plans to become the third largest fuel trader in the country. Rompetrol expects to raise its sales in Bulgaria to 250,000 tons of fuels valued at USD 230mn this year. It opened yesterday a storage facility and the first petrol station in the country under the trade mark Hei. Rompetrol is also seen among the potential candidates for the local business of Turkey’s Koc Holding comprising 17 petrol stations under the trade mark of Opet Aygaz and 3 storage facilities.
