The local company Technogips will start construction of a gypsum plant near the city of Stara Zagora by the end of this month. The plant will rely on inputs from residual materials supplied by the nearby thermo-power plant Maritsa East II. Some three months ago, Technogips pledged to invest BGN 77.5mn (EUR39.6mn) in construction of 2 gypsum plants and a calcifying system. Last month, the Austrian producer of construction materials Knauf launched a EUR 80mn project for production of gypsum panels near the coal-fired power complex Maritsa East in south Bulgaria and will use residual materials received from the installed systems for reduction of harmful gas emissions. Technogips holds a first-class certificate granted by the state investment agency.
