Transport ministry admits 18 bidders to Danube Bridge II road construction

The transport ministry has admitted 18 companies, out of 32 that have purchased documents, to bid in the tender for building the 15 km asphalt roads and the 14 km railroads linked to Danube Bridge II. The project is estimated at EUR 60mn. The bridge between the Bulgarian city of Vidin and Romania ’s Calafat, which is only the second one on the 470km river border between Bulgaria and Romania , will be constructed by the Spanish FCC Contruccion. It has won the tender with a price offer of EUR 100mn. The French-UK consortium INGEROP-High-Point Rendel is selected for engineering and construction supervisor of the project. The cost of the bridge construction and most of the adjacent infrastructure will be financed by EU grants and bilateral donor agreements.
