Varna Power Plant signs deals with 5 traders

The coal-fired power plant in the country’s third largest city of Varna has auctioned 200MWh of electricity to five companies under the new rules for free markjet supplies. The price set in the offers is much higher than the state regulated tariffs for power producers. The contracts will be signed by Nov 27 while supplies are expected to start in January. The production forecast of the plant stands at 3TWh for this year, which is slightly above last year’s sales. The electricity trading unit of the north-western power distribution group controlled by the Czech Electricity Company (CEZ), which also owns Varna Power Plant, will hold a tender for sale of electricity next year. A total of 14 companies will take part in the bidding.
