Open House event for the members of ELSA Bulgaria was held on May 30, 2024 at Djingov, Gouginski, Kyuchukov and Velichkov (DGKV) in Sofia. A big “Thank You” to Emili Stoyanova, ELSA Bulgaria, Vice President in charge of Professional Development, for helping organize this event and to all participants for their interest.
Under the umbrella title One working day in the law firm Djingov, Gouginski, Kyuchukov and Velichkov: professionalism, ethics, teamwork, a number of topics were presented to the participating law students, including: Values and ethics in the legal profession, Challenges to be part of a large litigation team and Sharing experience of working for one year at Djingov, Gouginski, Kyuchukov and Velichkov.
Valentin Bojilov, partner, talked about the history and culture of the law firm and its place in the Bulgarian market of legal services. He also presented various practical case studies from his extensive practice, through which he illustrated the importance of adhering to the rules of professional ethics in practicing law.
Simeon Simeonov, senior associate, briefly presented some of the most recent and significant cases from the practice of the Legal Dispute Resolution department, on which he is currently working, among which was the investment arbitration recently initiated on behalf of a client of the law firm before the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes in Washington. In addition, some of the biggest challenges facing the trial lawyer profession today were discussed, as well as the qualities one must possess to overcome them.
Anita Dangova, associate, presented her impressions of her first year at the law firm, talking about the knowledge and experience she gained, the mentoring and inspiring colleagues she had the opportunity to learn from, and the new challenges that motivated her to develop professionally. Anita also made a short comparative analysis between her work at DGKV and law firms in England, highlighting the similarities in the high professionalism and quality of the services offered, the attitude to the client, and the work culture.
